Guaiacwood oil CAS 8016-23-7

The genus Guaiacum (scientific name: Guaiacum) is a genus under the Tribulus terrestris family, including small trees such as Guaiacum sanctum. The plants are about 3.65 meters tall, with light green leaves, white bark, blue flowers and brownish-green hearks. The hearks of these trees can be used to extract solid resin oil. This genus of plants is mainly distributed in South America, with a few species such as Saint Guaiacum found in southern Florida and the Bahamas.

Guaiac wood resin is obtained through natural exudation or burning of wood and needs to be heated to liquefy before use. Its traditional applications include carving, religious ceremonies and medicine. Its essential oil contains components such as guaiacol and Bulnesol, and has anti-inflammatory and diuretic effects. It is also used as a fixative in perfumes and to blend rose essential oils, with a smoky woody scent. Essential oils are extracted from wood chips and can be in solid or semi-fluid form after distillation processing. They are widely used in the fields of flavors and fragrances, daily chemicals, and food additives. Because essential oils have a high concentration, they need to be diluted before use to avoid causing fatigue.
