TMG is a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid with strong alkaline (pKa≈13.6) and ammonia-like odor. Mainly used as catalyst for organic synthesis (e.g. polyurethane), deacidifier and DNA/RNA modification reagent, its high reactivity and low nucleophilicity are outstanding. It needs to be sealed and kept away from light, it is highly corrosive to skin/eyes, and requires strict protection for handling.
