Strontium hydroxide is a colorless crystalline or white powdery substance. The density is 1.9g/cm3, the melting point is 375 ℃, and the boiling point is 710 ℃ (decomposition). This compound is easily hygroscopic and can absorb carbon dioxide in the air and convert it into carbonate. In dry air, it can lose seven molecules of crystal water. It has good solubility in hot water and acid, is also easily soluble in ammonium chloride solution, and can dissolve in cold water.
