It is a light yellow transparent liquid or yellow crystalline powder at room temperature, with a melting point range of 162-164°C. Its molecular structure contains an anthracene skeleton composed of three fused benzene rings, and the hydroxymethyl substituent is located at the carbon position 9 of the anthracene ring. ‌

Physical and chemical properties ‌Solubility‌: Soluble in polar solvents such as chloroform (20mg/mL), slightly soluble in water. ‌

‌Stability‌: Stable at room temperature, but the hydroxyl group is easily oxidized to aldehyde byproducts when exposed to oxidants. ‌

Application areas ‌Mainly used for HPLC detection reagents, polymerization initiators and Diels-Alder reaction reagents, involving the preparation of polymer synthesis, fluorescent materials and dye molecules.
