Calcium bromide, chemical formula CaBr2. Chemical formula: CaBr2 Molecular weight: 199.90. Colorless rhombic crystals. Deliquescent. Melting point 730℃(with trace decomposition), boiling point 806-812℃, relative density 3.35325. Its hexahydrate is a colorless hexagonal crystal with a melting point of 38.2℃, a boiling point of 149℃, and a relative density of 2.295. It is readily soluble in water, ethanol and acetone, and slightly soluble in liquid ammonia. Its aqueous solution is neutral or slightly alkaline. It can be produced by the reaction of hydrobromic acid with calcium oxide, lime milk or calcium carbonate, or by passing ammonia into lime milk and then adding bromine. It should be sealed and stored away from light. It is used in the photography industry, etc.
