Sodium Isethionate is an organic salt with the chemical formula HOCH₂CH₂SO₃Na. It appears as a white to off-white crystalline powder or solid with a mild, characteristic odor. Highly soluble in water and practically insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone. Known for its mild, non-irritating surfactant properties, it is commonly used in cosmetic and personal care formulations (e.g., syndet bars, facial cleansers, and shampoos) as a gentle cleansing and foaming agent.
