It is an important organic silane coupling agent. Its molecular structure consists of a long-chain hydrophobic dodecyl group and three hydrolysable ethoxy groups. The silanol generated after hydrolysis can form strong Si-O bonds with the surface of inorganic substrates such as glass, metal, and fillers, while long-chain alkyl groups provide hydrophobic, waterproof, anti fouling, and improved compatibility properties. It is widely used in building materials (concrete, stone waterproof protection), coatings, sealants, filler treatments, and composite materials as an excellent surface modifier and organic/inorganic interface bonding promoter.
