Methyl Red 493-52-7

Methyl infrared appears as glossy purple crystals or reddish brown powder. Melting point 180-182 ℃. Easy to dissolve in ethanol and glacial acetic acid, almost insoluble in water. Methyl red is one of the commonly used acid-base indicators, with a concentration of 0.1% ethanol solution and a pH of 4.4 (red) -6.2 (yellow). Also used for staining live protozoa.
