Magnesium ethoxide (CAS: 2414-98-4) is an organic magnesium compound that appears as a white to light gray powder with the molecular formula C ₄ H ₁ MgO ₂. It decomposes at around 270 ℃. This substance reacts violently with water and decomposes, releasing heat. It is flammable and needs to be stored in a dry environment.
It is mainly used as a catalyst carrier for olefin polymerization (such as polypropylene and polyethylene), and also for the preparation of precision ceramic raw materials.
