1. Performance and use:

Isothiazolinones are mainly composed of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (CMI) and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (MI). Isothiazolinones act by breaking the bonds between bacterial and algal proteins. Isothiazolinones can quickly and irreversibly inhibit the growth of microorganisms after contact with them, leading to the death of microbial cells. Therefore, they have strong inhibitory and killing effects on common bacteria, fungi, algae, etc. It has high biocidal efficiency, good degradability, no residue, safe operation, good compatibility, strong stability, and low cost of use. Miscible with chlorine and most anionic, cationic and nonionic surfactants. At high doses, isothiazolinones have a significant effect on biological slime exfoliation.

3. Usage

When isothiazolinone II products are used as slime strippers, the addition concentration is 150-300 mg/L; when used as fungicides, they are added every 3-7 days, with a dosage of 80-100 mg/L. It can be used simultaneously with oxidizing fungicides such as chlorine, but cannot be used in cooling water systems containing sulfides. The combined use of isothiazolinone quaternary ammonium salts has a better effect. When isothiazolinone is used as an industrial bactericide and mildew inhibitor, the general concentration is 0.05-0.4%.

4. Packaging and storage

Isothiazolinone is packaged in plastic barrels, 25 kg per barrel or as required by the user; stored in a cool place indoors, the storage period is ten months.

5. Safety protection

Isothiazolinone is corrosive and irritating to the skin and eyes. Protective glasses and rubber gloves should be worn when handling it. Once it comes into contact with the skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water or soapy water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
