Glycerol formal CAS 4740-78-7

Glycerol acetal (GF) is a light glycerol acetal, composed of approximately 60% 5-hydroxy-1, 3-dioxane and approximately 40% 4-hydroxymethyl-1, 3-dioxane. In the presence of an acidic catalyst, glycerol reacts with formaldehyde to form acetone. The potential of GF as an injection solvent for toxicity tests has been reported.
