The scientific name of dihydrolaurenol is 2,6-dimethyl-7-octen-2-ol. Colorless liquid with a strong and sweet white lemon cologne aroma. Relative density 0.830-0.836 (25/25 ℃), boiling point 85-87 ℃ (11 × 133.322Pa), refractive index 1.439-1.443 (23 ℃). Chemical stability is superior to natural lemon oil. It can be prepared from α - pinene via pinane and dihydrolaurene. It can also be produced from β - pinene. It is commonly used to prepare citrus type, cologne type essence and clove type floral essence, with the dosage up to 20%. Replacing natural white lemon oil with it has a great effect.
