Refined from the extract of the leaves and buds of the Brazilian palm, it is a hard, brittle, water insoluble, lustrous wax with a hard, high melting point.Its main components are beeswax palmitate, fatty acid esters, wax acids and hydrocarbon components, consisting of most of the twenty-six (alcohol) esters of twenty-six acids and a small amount of diesters and hydroxy fatty acids.
