Weathering in dry air to lose crystal water, dissolving dripping water in humid air, heating to 92·5 °C to lose 9 crystal water, 200% loss of all crystal water into white powder. Soluble in water, its aqueous solution is acidic, and hydrolyzes in water to form aluminum hydroxide colloidal precipitate; Slowly soluble in glycerol, insoluble in ethanol.
