Colorless to slightly yellow oily liquid. It has a pleasant aroma of black pepper and lotus. There are two isomers: left-handed and right-handed. The boiling point of right-handed body is 66-68 ℃, and the boiling point of left-handed body is 58-59 ℃ (2133Pa). Flash point, 49 ℃. Soluble in ethanol and ether, insoluble in water. The right-handed form exists in cinnamon oil, ginger oil, olive oil, fennel oil, etc. The left-handed substance exists in eucalyptus oil, star anise oil, sweet potato oil, bay oil, pepper oil, etc.
