It is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid at room temperature, with a melting point of 1-2℃, a boiling point of 214-219℃ (760mmHg), a density of 1.052-1.068g/cm³, and a flash point of approximately 93.3-197°F. It is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether. ‌

It is mainly used in the fields of chemical synthesis and materials science, such as dienophiles in the Diels-Alder reaction, and also in the development of photochemical 3D printing substrates and the study of polymer properties. Research in the biomedical field has found that it has the potential to inhibit GSK-3 and activate the Nrf2 signaling pathway.
