Lithium oxide (Li₂O) is an oxide of lithium, a white solid with a melting point of 1567°C, a boiling point of 2600°C, and a density of 2.013 g/cm³. ‌

Lithium oxide is generated by the combustion of lithium in oxygen and is easily reacted with acids and metal oxides at high temperatures. It generates strong alkaline lithium hydroxide (LiOH) when it comes into contact with water, which reacts slowly with water. ‌

It is mainly used in lithium batteries (positive electrode materials), glass ceramic additives, nuclear industry and other fields. Battery-grade lithium oxide must meet indicators such as main content ≥98.5% and particle size ≤150μm
