Dibutyl glycol ether is a colorless liquid with a slight ether odor. It is a flammable liquid. Stable to alkali, but the ether bond breaks when reacting with strong acid. Peroxides can be formed under the action of oxygen in the air. It is miscible with acetone, ethanol, 1, 2-dichloroethane, ethyl acetate, toluene, ether, heptane, castor oil, turpentine, isopropyl ether, etc. It is used as a dispersant and also for extracting fatty acids from dilute fatty acid solutions, the separation and refinement of alkyl phosphoric acid, and as an inert solvent in uranium ore extraction, etc.
